Bus Pass, No Bus

Wednesday meant errands so off to get my picture taken one more time, they lost the first one in the camera....So in a few weeks I will have my bus pass with picture.  I like not driving, and I like the freedom of going anywhere I need in my car.  That last statement sums up the American love with cars, and I will continue to move towards my transit life day by day.  As I write today it is sunny, crisp and maybe it will not rain today!  I brought Gerber daisies home from the coop last night and they are smiling right at me, as I work towards getting myself out the door.  Today is not a bus day either, I am getting new tires and some tweaks fixed for my old, new jeep.  She doesn't have a name yet, but I think one will come soon.  Maybe I will name my bus routes as well!

No Bus, Basketball Blog Today

Lynx Pre-Season Finale No Bus today.  I did not go into the office today worked from home, and took a mid-day break to go to the only pre-season game with the Lynx.  It was fun to see the team, some exciting new women, and oh those returning stars, they are just fun to watch.  When a play works it is so pretty, and when the misses come it is such a "oh my!".  I have been reading the stories about the new players, each woman has her own story.  Many of them not easy ones to tell.  The work, perseverance and grit each one has brought on her road to be a WNBA player.  I like this team, I like teams that are teams, where you can see and feel how they connect with each other, the building of trust, having fun, and getting each other to be better, bolder, more sure. You can ride the bus free two hours before and after the game, just show your ticket, but it was rainy and I was going with a friend so we decided on speed vs. green.  I did look up the schedule, and there wil

Second Day on the Bus....

Day Two Observations: There are lots more people on the bus on Monday than there was on Friday. Buses do sometimes run on time, all my buses were right on the minute today, all four of them! I did not miss the evening connection, it feels like I won, when I make all of the connections! On the 25A going home tonight, a woman got on, she was going to a funeral home, she didn't know where it was.  At first no one spoke up, then the i-phone user got the map, and at least 5 people chimed in to give directions and get clear about the stop - it felt good! Someone offered me a seat on express ride to Minneapolis, I was grateful and enjoyed the seat. You can answer a lot of emails from downtown St. Paul to downtown Minneapolis. I like when the driver tells you the stops, it seems like training wheels for the new rider. I said thank you when I got off each bus, feels good. Someone asked why I was riding the bus, without thinking I said, it is a way that I can help make sure my gr

Bus Blogging

After another absence, one year plus, I am on the move.  My last blog was about turkey's on the move, like in turkeys that were moving along in my yard.  Now I am moving along to and from work on the bus.  There is not ONE bus that can take me from home to work, so I go to downtown Minneapolis and then head for the Capitol Complex in St. Paul. I now have one day under my belt...and.... there appear to be no protocols for customer service some bus drivers know nothing about connecting routes the 94D Express bus is a wild and wooly ride running across street waving your monthly pass does not help in stopping the connecting bus from just pulling away from the stop that means 30 more minutes on one of the most uninteresting blocks on Nicollet Avenue 3 out of 4 bus stops I use have no shelters, I will have to work up to winter warrior status according to metro transit I saved some large number of bad things going into the atmosphere, by my count I saved one gallon of gas, whic
