Toogood Arm and Auk Island Winery

We had a few things still on our "we want to do" list before leaving Twillingate Island and heading to St. Johns.  So off we went taking a leisurely drive through Toogood Arm, meandering up and down necks, arms, cove and harbours. Taking in the landscapes, seascapes, buildings and more.  There were very few cars and made it easy to slow down and take a little longer look at whatever caught our eyes.   We were on our way to Auk Island Winery, now called Great Auk Winery, in Durrell, where we had earlier taken a tour of their sweet little museum.

We arrived at the winery a little after two big tour buses had dropped people off for lunch.  The host told us it would be a little wait, and we decided to take the winery tour before we had lunch,  it was another exchange of L'il Darling and sweet endearments and big big smiles before we headed through the gift shop and over to the wine bar where one signed up for the winery tour.

The tour was fun, and informative and we enjoyed our wine tasting when done.  Marcia bought a bottle to drink at night, and I bought a case to be shipped to New Brunswick, where I would bring the allotted amount of bottles back into the US one trip at a time.  I loved the stories of the berries.  Patridgeberry = Ligonberry, Bakeapple Berry = Cloudberry, Blueberry = Blueberry yum, yum...and so iceberg melt included in some of the wines!

It was a fun, easy day.  Taking it all in.  Going at a "just right" pace and enjoying our company and our day.  Here are a few pictures.  Little snapshots capturing moments of the day.
