MaryAlice, Sasha, "Auntie Kim", Myah and me went to see the Minnesota Frost this afternoon. We were four of the 8,726 fans that game to watch the game against Montreal Victoire. Governor Tim Walz was also there with his family, and he got one of the biggest applauses when they showed him on the jumbotron. It was really fun to be at the game. The skating was so very good, the game moved very fast, and it was too bad that we fell short. I would for sure be a season ticket holder if I lived in the Twin Cities, but maybe I will take the bus down to see the Boston Fleet sometime this season. The fans were great, lots of kids, lots of girls in their hockey uniforms, and lots of girlie music that sounded just right. MaryAlice is a big hockey fan and she was cheering and making lots of sounds at the near misses and the whiffs that happened every once in awhile. Amazing to see such support for the team and the league, there were lots of women sports are here to stay shirts, and men, women and children were all wearing their Frost apparel. MaryAlice got a beanie stocking cap, we will have to get a picture of that soon.
Here I am, Kim is holding me up so you can see the big jumbotron and ME!
The upper deck is closed off, but the lower half of the Excel was almost full. The Professional Women's Hockey League is here to stay. This was the first regulation loss of the season for the Minnesota Frost and they play Boston on January 2nd, but we will be in Wisconsin then, we might have to figure out how to stream the game.MaryAlice has been taking Sasha to hockey games since she was a little girl, and Myah has been playing hockey since she was a little girl, she still plays on a team in the Mid Atlantic Women's Hockey League, it is the oldest women's association in the country.
We are home for the night now, tomorrow is our last full day in Minnesota, then we get back on the Amtrak and head south and east to LaCrosse, WI. It has been a very good visit, there were lots of people that we didn't see this time, but MaryAlice will be back. Tomorrow is going to be a very good, more hanging out and seeing a few former co-workers, and maybe playing a few more games. I am going to miss Harlow and Hannah and the really pretty Christmas Tree. We have now stopped in Portland, ME, and spent time with friends in Boston, MA, and did an overnight on the train, walked around Chicago for a few hours and ended up in St. Paul MN.
Glad we are in for the night, the weather service just issued a fog warning until noon tomorrow. Glad we are here spending the night with family and I get to be the one who gets to share a few things about our trip. Go Frost, Go Women - Sorry it was a loss today, but we all had fun!
