It was warm many places today, I am checking my weather app as I type and it is 71 degrees in Millinocket, 61 degreesin Minneapolis, 86 degrees in Houston and 104 degrees in Phoenix. Tomorrow the high will be 63 in Minneapolis when I arrive later in the afternoon.
I will have a lot more to say later about my time in Phoenix and the places I saw and people I met as I traveled by train from New York City, but for now I am transition mode. Tomorrow I take a plane. I fly to Minneapolis. No more train rides on this trip, except maybe the light rail in the twin cities. My good friend Beth will be picking me up, it will be cooler and probably rain. I will wear my leather coat that has hung in the closet since the day I arrived in Phoenix.
I made plans today with Myah for a Gramma date on Saturday night. I am going to see Luke play Lacrosse on the Varsity Team of his high school. I will be back in the city that I spent many decades and that I moved from last February.
I will spend some time in Wisconsin, including some time in Vernon County with Marcia. I moved from Chicago to Vernon County in 1971, and now my grand daughter will be going to college in Chicago in the fall. Marcia and I met at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb in the late 60's. After time with Marcia I will go see Serafina Bathrick who I have known since 1976, I moved from LaFarge to Madison to go to the University, and there is where I met "Fina" who was a PhD candidate and taught several classes that I took!
So I leave Arizona where I have met new friends and go to a place where I have very very long time friendships and memories.
It has been a trip. I am sorry to not be traveling by train, but I know I will do that again soon! I will have to readjust, I will be closer to my home time zone. No more 6:30 a.m. conference calls! And I will be moving closer to finding my way back home.
Now, I get ready for my last night in Phoenix for this trip. Don't know where we are going to eat and celebrate but I am sure it will be fun. I will miss all of my days of outdoor living, it is an incredible way to be in the world. I love eating and drinking outside and not swatting away black flies or mosquitoes. There is always the yin and yang. No worries about that tonight.
Next post from Northeast Minneapolis. Stay Tuned. That's it from Wednesday in Phoenix!
