Wow a day in the Sonora Desert

What a special day, Kyle picked me up early this morning and off we headed to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum .  It was a cool morning, maybe the coolest I have felt since arriving in Arizona.  The drive out was amazing as we drove through "slots" and hairpin turns that opened up into vistas that seemingly went forever and ever.  A few moments were a little harrowing as I had to deal with my vertigo as we slowly drove around big drop offs.  Kyle drove cab for 5 years and is a long time Tucson resident so she was masterful driving us through the ranges and luckily my vertigo was held in check.

And then we arrived at the museum.  It was so cool that after a little stroll where I gasped and wowed at the views we headed to the hummingbird house. and then onto the outside aviary.

Kyle (AKA Skye Bloodgood) has been photographing for he past few years.  Several of her photos have been on exhibit at the Museum and you can see and buy her work on the Fine Art America website.  I am going to share some of our birds and other adventures from our morning at the museum.  The museum is a magical place!
I wish I remembered the names of these hummingbirds!  Amazing that they would sit for as long as they did!

Here is a nest that I look with my I-Phone!  you can barely see the hummer...
Look at that beak!
This was a jewel!
Don't you love that little top puff and that periwinkle blue face mask.

Another MA I-Phone hummingbird shot!
This is the hummingbird that was sitting in the nest I took a pic of,  she was so gracious and flew out of the nest and perched on the railing so I could get a good shot of her on my I-Phone!

Then some antic's, MA masuerading as an owl!  My sunhat gives it away!
This guy was too much Buddha Boy in the Sanctuary.
 Another Hummer!

A few shots of the spring flowers, the desert is so very brilliant!

The day warmed as the clouds broke up, the blue sky dazzled and the sun warmed our backs.  It was fun to be Skye's sidekick,  watching out for birds and pointing out to each other flowers, cacti, succulents, animals and more.  We laughed and talked and watched silently.  We walked, and sat and listened.  Another precious wonderful adventure.  In exactly one month I will be back home in Millinocket.  I have traveled most of March,  all of April and now am beginning May.  When I left I had the "bones" of my trip, I knew when I got on planes and trains.  I knew where I would stay when I arrived in a new city but all of the adventures, how I have filled my days, and who I filled my days with has been an amazing surprise!

Check out Skye Bloodgood Photography, work, just click on the hyperlink here or google her.  Her vista's are amazing, her birds are a gift, and her cows a big fun surprise!
Here are some last shots from my phone....just a little taste of the majesty of the Arizona desert:

It is Wednesday and I still on vacation.  Enjoying life in Tuscon Arizona!
