Day 11 - Wow just Wow!

Wow,  Social Distancing, Change and Being in the Moment, that is what my last couple of days have been about.  Karen, Jen and I are hunkered down at the Desert Oasis,  the rain is in a lull right now and the birds outside are so very happy - they have been having lots and lots to say!

I have been mostly up since about 2:30 this a.m.  when Myah sent a "what's app" message that she was being sent home from Spain.  That started a back and forth from Phoenix, Minneapolis and Granada Spain.  University classes are suspended and will resume as online courses on March 23rd.    The travel arrangements are stressful and as I type there still has not been a callback from Delta.  Myah is at once sad to leave Spain, stressed about the arrangements that are needed to get back home, and glad to be headed home to her family.

Sasha is working hard to help get travel changes made, and this time of waiting is hard for everyone.

Meanwhile, each day brings more news seemingly as exponential as the replication of the virus itself.    Plans have changed.  No NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, at least that is what it seems like right now seeing that I have no immediate family member in the tournament no matter what teams will be there.  Several events that had been scheduled for my time in Arizona are now cancelled.

I am not even going to start on what I think of the response to this virus.  Let's hope that testing can really ramp up soon,  it is a needless tragedy that we are where we are in our readiness for the corona virus.

Meanwhile,  I am enjoying being in a beautiful part of the world,  the temperatures are mild, and even the rain feels like summer to me and is bringing out a lushness that is all to brief in the desert.

Last night I made supper,  tomato-basil soup,  and beautiful salad, crusty bread for Karen and Jen and a nice bottle of wine.  We ate and watched Rachel Maddow - nothing comforting there.  Not even my daily post from Heather Cox Richardson felt comforting.

So we go on, wish the best,  stay in the day, wash hands, wash hands, and enjoy the moment.  The sun is trying to make an experience for the first time since Tuesday, hope it can break through.

Be Kind.  Don't Hoard.  Remember that we are caring for a community, a very big, very amazingly diverse community.  Wash hands and be rational.  That's all for today.
