While I was in radio silence, nursing a not so good back, and spending more time than usual indoors vs. out in wild the colors just starting popping. On Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning I was out on the lake - the colors were just starting, they were almost visible but very muted. Now there is big color, more and more beautiful pics are being posted online and you can feel fall is in the air.
I still feel that I am adjusting, it is easier to put more and different layers on each morning. I have finished the semi-annual changing of the clothes. I have started to drink hot cocoa in the afternoon. I am still cooking and canning. I made a sour cream apple cake yesterday, brought it to the Fanjoy's for supper and it was a hit! I also made a big batch of quinoa tabouli using cucumbers and tomatoes from neighbor's garden, and scallions from the Fanjoy's. It is the last whisper of summer flavors that I can eat along with the soups and stews that I keep simmering on the stove.
Today I dropped some of my bounty off to some young neighbors, they were so very happy to have a surprise of good food dropped off at their door! I was happy to be the bearer of good treats.
I go back to my chiropractor on Tuesday, I am definitely better and really hoping that this week brings good alignment, more strength and less pain. I am ready for a new week. I am ready for a new month. I am hoping we will have some glorious days, that the colors continue to bloom, and the leaves stay on the trees for a little while longer.
I have a week with commitments at the library, taking car in for check up, and getting ready for my visitors from Minnesota and Wisconsin next week! I am focused on what needs to be done here - balancing with emails, phone calls and reaching out to politicians about a long list of concerns. I am signed up for GOTV! We may have someone stay at our house! I keep doing my part.
It is Sunday night and I just finished my hot cocoa. I am getting ready to put on my supper to reheat. I have a good book that I am reading, and I managed to finish this blog. No hiccup today - just fingers to the keyboard and a few words from my heart.
