Hwy 87 meets Route 66

You could not ask for a more beautiful day in the Coconino National Forest.  The sky was the most beautiful blue,  the sun was shining bright, every once and a while  there were a few clouds floating by and the temperature was just right.  No weather weather is what I call this kind of day.  Quite a difference from when we arrived late yesterday afternoon.  We were cold!  The wind was blowing and the sky was grey.

More friends arrived today at the cabin and there was an orchestrated effort to complete the "spring cleaning"  and it did get done!  I did take a walk in the "development" enjoyed seeing all the different types of cabins and a real treat was the community library was open, it is open 1 hour a week.  I found a book, heard a few stories about the library and picked out a book, you just take them and put them back in the book slot when you done!

I walked back to the cabin and  helped a little with the few tasks were lest and I then I slipped away for a little afternoon nap. When I woke up the tasks were done.  AND

With jobs all completed it was off to Winslow to buy bird seed and animal feed.
We went through three distinct geographies on our way to Winslow.  We started out in the Ponderosa Pines, then just like a line in the sand,  the Pines were gone and we were left with brush and juniper trees.  Then no junipers and not very much brush, just vastness.  The vistas grew wider and wider and you could see peaks way off in the distance.

It was truly big sky.  And then we on the outskirts of Winslow and you could see the train rolling across the landscape.

We went to the seed store and then to Walmart

.  After getting supplies it was off to the infamous corner in Winslow Arizona! There were several groups of people taking pictures and I took a few!  Cindy and I will be going back on Tuesday for our stay at LaPosada.  So more Winslow stories soon.

But for now, back to the cabin,  fill the bird feeders put out the mineral block and throw out alfalfa rods for the elk and other four leggeds...Nacho's for supper and now watching "Secret Life of Bees".

A good day, a good night, and very wonderful night sky awaiting us all.
